Conveyancing and The Land Registry
In almost all cases of property exchange, managing legal property ownership paperwork, including registering with the Land Registry is handled by either a professionally-trained conveyancer or a solicitor.
To own any property legally, it's paramount that all Land Registry and conveyancing forms are completed meticulously, in full accordance with the law. Failure to do so, may result in further complications with actual title ownership being questioned.
With any property transaction involving a mortgage, the lender will always request that a solicitor or experienced conveyancer handle the transaction, including the completion of Land Registry documentation. Failure to provide evidence of this may result in the mortgage lender not approving a mortgage.
All Land Registry documentation will be exchanged between conveyancers or solicitors via post. This is to protect the personal and financial details of both parties. If you've received an email claiming to be from your conveyancers or solicitors asking for payment for any aspect of your conveyancing, always contact them to ensure its authenticity.
