Springbok Properties Membership of The Property Ombudsman Demonstrates Commitment to the Highest Levels of Professional Standards

The Property Ombudsman (TPO) is an organisation approved by the UK government which provides free, fair and impartial advice for property owners, tenants, vendors and buyers throughout the UK.

Founded in 1990, property ombudsman was originally named, the Ombudsman for Corporate Estate Agents. It was then re-named the Ombudsman for Estate Agents, before finally being recognised as The Property Ombudsman (TPO) in 1998.

From providing consumers with independent conflict resolution to ensuring that the Standards of Service (SoS) are of the highest level, property ombudsman works to ensure that consumer rights, accurate information and fair trade are conducted within the property sector.

A recognised member of The Ombudsman Association (formerly the British and Irish Ombudsman Association) (BIOA) is appointed by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA).The Property Ombudsman is equipped to handle property complaints of any description.

Approved by the Office of Fair Trading, (OFT), property ombudsman services ensure online and high-street estate agents uphold the TPO Code of Practice for Residential Estate Agents.

How Property Ombudsman Is Operated

Today, property ombudsman is a voluntary service, run independently from the property industry, the regulator and consumer groups. Being 100% impartial means that consumers can trust property ombudsman to be completely fair and impartial with the decisions made.

Once a dispute has been passed to property ombudsman, all resolutions are designed to achieve a comprehensive final settlement between two parties. Property ombudsman will settle any claims and resolve all disputes.
