I'm a property expert that still remembers the days when having broadband was a selling point! My articles cover issues that homesellers face in the UK and answer the questions we're all asking. I've bought and sold properties and helped others do the same, so my writing comes from years of experience.
Read Full Bio >Springbok Properties surveyed more than 1,000 UK homebuyers to find the biggest deal-breakers when buying. The findings, as featured in Estate Agent Networking, Property Reporter and News On The Block, are striking:
- 75% would walk away if they spotted a major issue
- 20% would slash their offers by up to 15% (£40,361 on the average UK home)
- 57% said they’d reduce by even more
Common turn-offs include damp, poor layouts, bad odours, outdated kitchens or bathrooms, and neglected gardens. External factors like crime rates, parking issues, and noisy neighbours also rank highly.

Our CEO’s insight:
“Selling a home can be a minefield due to buyer preferences … many sellers are turning to quicker, more certain sale routes such as Springbok Properties.”
Takeaway:
Buyer perceptions can cost tens of thousands. The safest strategy is to anticipate issues, fix what you can, and where certainty matters most, explore guaranteed-sale routes.
