I've bought and sold properties and helped others do the same, so my writing comes from years of experience.
Read Full Bio >Springbok Properties’ CEO, Shepherd Ncube, recently shared his thoughts with The Express and other media outlets on reports that Stamp Duty Land Tax could be scrapped.
Shepherd said:
“Stamp duty is the second largest cost homebuyers must overcome when looking to climb the ladder and so, of course, any move to scrap it would bring a considerable boost.”
He added that the wider impact could help balance the market:
“It would encourage more buyers to make their move to homes suitable for their respective stages of life, thus helping to alleviate the pressure on the supply of suitable housing stock across the wider market.”
While the change remains hypothetical, Shepherd said that even the discussion of reform is encouraging for buyers:
“Of course, we’re a long way from such a reality at the moment, but even [these] claims will excite many homebuyers given the potential savings that could come as a result later down the line.”
